Privacy Policy

Last updated Oct. 12, 2026

Your itinerary is private until you share it. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, who can see it and the choices you have. We never sell your information.

1. What This Policy Covers

This policy applies to the Planning Europe website and the services on it, operated by Planning Europe, LLC of Winchester, Va. Sites we link to, such as GetYourGuide and Viator, follow their own privacy policies.

2. Information You Give Us

  • Account details: your display name, email and password. We store passwords in a protected form, never as readable text.
  • Profile details: an optional profile photo and cover image.
  • Your itineraries: days, activities, costs and notes, including images, links and any confirmations you upload.
  • Your travel party: the names and details of the travelers you add. For children, we record an age range rather than an exact age, and it stays private.
  • What you share with the community: posts, comments, reviews, ratings, photos and messages.
  • Your phone number, if you’re asked to verify one.
  • Anything you send us through the Contact page.

3. Information We Collect Automatically

This includes your device and browser type, IP address, general location based on that address, the pages you view and the dates and times of your visits. We use cookies and Google Analytics to gather it. It helps us keep the site running well.

4. Sign-In With Google or Facebook

If you choose to continue with Google or Facebook, that company confirms who you are and shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We never see your password for those services. We don’t receive your contacts or friends list, and we never post to your accounts.

5. How We Use Information

  • To create your account and save your itineraries.
  • To show your content the way you’ve chosen to share it.
  • To send account emails, such as verification links and password resets, and notifications you’ve turned on.
  • To keep the community trustworthy, review reports and uphold the Group Rules.
  • To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

We send news and travel inspiration by email only if you’ve asked for it, and every email includes a way to stop.

6. What Is Public and What Is Private

  • Private by default: your itineraries, notes, uploaded confirmations, costs, traveler names, exact dates, phone number and email address. Only you see them, along with any travel party members you invite by link.
  • Public only when you choose: an itinerary you publish, along with its ratings and reviews, and your public profile. Anyone can see these, including search engines. Shared itineraries leave out costs, traveler names and exact dates unless you turn them on. Confirmation numbers and notes never appear publicly.
  • Visible to members: your group posts and comments, display name, avatar and “Joined” date. Direct messages are delivered to the traveler you’re writing to. Our team may review messages that are reported.

You can make a shared itinerary private again anytime. Copies that other travelers already made of it remain with them.

7. Phone Verification

Some members are asked to verify a phone number, for example before sending a first message request. We use your number to keep messaging trustworthy and to keep accounts we’ve removed from returning. It is never shown to other travelers, and we don’t use it for marketing calls or texts.

8. Who We Share Information With

  • Service providers. Companies that help us operate, such as hosting and database, email delivery, maps, analytics and text message verification. They may use your information only to do that work for us.
  • Affiliate partners. When you click through to GetYourGuide or Viator, they receive only what your browser sends, such as the link you clicked and a referral code that tells them you came from Planning Europe. We don’t send them your name, email or itinerary.
  • Legal and safety reasons. We may share information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of travelers, the public or Planning Europe.
  • A change of ownership. If Planning Europe is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner, and we’ll let you know.

9. Cookies

Cookies are small files saved in your browser. We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your settings. We use Google Analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. Affiliate partners may set their own when you click through. You can manage or clear cookies in your browser settings, though logging in requires the essential ones.

10. Children

Accounts are for travelers 18 and older, and we don’t knowingly collect information directly from children. A parent or guardian may add a child to a travel party, with an age range rather than an exact age, to help plan a trip. That information is never public. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it. If you believe a child has created an account, please tell us through the Contact page and we’ll take care of it.

11. Your Choices and Rights

  • Edit your profile, display name and email in your settings.
  • Make a shared itinerary or a public profile private again.
  • Print any of your itineraries to keep a copy.
  • Delete your account, which removes your profile and private itineraries. Your group posts, comments and reviews stay, shown as from a former member.
  • Choose which emails you receive.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Write to us through the Contact page and we’ll respond within 30 days.

12. How Long We Keep Information

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days. We may keep limited records longer when the law requires it, or to keep removed accounts from returning.

13. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls and trusted service providers to protect your information. You can help by choosing a password you use only here. If we ever learn of a problem that affects your information, we’ll tell you promptly.

14. Changes to This Policy

When we update this policy, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. For meaningful changes, we’ll let you know by email or with a notice on the site.

15. Contact Us

Write to us through our Contact page. We read every message and usually reply within a couple of days.
